Project: Tulips

I'm not known for being the "gardening type". But, I've been inspired to try to plant flowers and see if I can make them work. I found these tulip bulbs at Walmart. Then I used mason jars leftover from a bridal shower as planters. Oh the cuteness!

Hopefully I'll have beautiful blooms in early spring! The anticipation is already killing me!

Makeover: Nightstands

We've been living with one nightstand for a few months. I refused to buy anything temporary until I found EXACTLY what I was looking for. I happened to walk into a Goodwill and found these little darlings. I quickly decided that these were the nightstands and they came home with me!

This was my first time using a paint stripper. I bought "Citristrip Paint Stripping Gel" from Lowe's. It smelled like oranges, not like super toxic fumes. I painted it on with a cheapy foam brush and it started eating the paint away within 5 minutes!
This is Kahuna. He's helping his mom...as usual.
I found a paint swatch in turquoise that perfectly matched our comforter and stained the top of each nighstand. Last I switched out the knobs, also purchased at Lowes.

Makeover: Pedestal Table

I had been on the hunt for a new kitchen table and I was convinced that I could should a)not pay retail b)make it amazing. So begins my hunt for the perfect kitchen table. I searched Craigslist until I found what I was looking for.

INSPIRATION:

OUR PEDESTAL TABLE:

Purchased on Craigslist. I think this was a kids craft table. It was yucky!

Products used: Minwax Stain with polyurethane in "Bombay Mahagony Satin", Rust-Oleum Spraypaint in "Satin White"

Luckily the base was easily removeable from the top of the table. I lightly sandpapered the base, just to get off the shiny-ish topcoat. Then, I applied several light coats of spraypaint to the base until it "looked good". I used the entire can.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the most professional way to protect the top of the table but hey, I used what I had! I taped coupons to the underside of the table, checking each page to see if I needed to clip any first..of course. Then spraypaint.

**I don't really have any "staining" pictures to post. I'll be a better project documenter in the future. I put about 5 coats of stain on the top of the table.**

Table is finished and in our kitchen. I'm really happy with how it turned out. :)

Montgomery House

Running a business from home and wanting to have a couple babies, my husband and I realized that our current house would not fit all of those things. In January 2011 we decided to build a house..about 5 miles from our current house. We signed the contract and were told we would be moving in at the end of June. We went by and checked on our house every single day for 5 months! Here are a few pictures...I took over 500 pictures so it's difficult to narrow it to just a few! I still need a good front yard picture with grass...coming soon :)
